“Perfect”-ing the Scoring

July Prize Winner stands infront of the DDR Scoreboard

Our next DDR tournament is approaching quickly (see my previous post for the details!), so this seems like the perfect time to start thinking about how to score the tournament.  In our July tournament, we counted the number of “Perfects.”  But, I know that some participants would have preferred us to use a different method of scoring . . . we could use the total points for example, or we could add up ”Perfects,” “Goods,” and “Okays.”  Anyway, if you have any suggestions, please post them here.  I can’t promise that we’ll use your method – but I’d definitely like to hear what you have to say!!!!

If you can’t make it down to the library, you can email jcarter@virl.bc.ca and tell me your name, age, and what days you will attend, and I’ll reserve a spot for you!

:?:

Now for those of you with questions about how the tournament is going to work, here’s a few details:

8) Competitors are welcome to attend one, two, or all three days of the tournament.

8) Each day will feature it’s own mini-tournament, with the best players from each day advancing to our Grand Championship event on Sunday.

8) The mini-tournaments will have two stages: Qualification and Elimination.

Stage One: Qualification
-Competitors will dance twice. The scorekeeper will total the number of “perfects” each participant achieves.
-The competitors who achieve the highest combined scores will move on to the Elimination Stage.

Stage Two: Elimination
-Competitors will be ranked based on their scores from the Qualification Stage.
-Based on their ranking, competitors will be placed in a bracket, and each pair in the bracket will dance one song against each other.
-The competitor achieving the higher number of “perfects” will advance to the next round while the competitor with the lower number of “perfects” will be eliminated.
-Eventually, only one competitor will be left standing, and he or she will be named champion of the mini-tournament!

They even tried out the Wii themselves. I have say that Shaw interviewer has some dance moves (heh heh). I found the baseball really hard, but the bowling and golf were tons ‘o fun! Check out the pictures, just click the pic:
